List of Most Famous Peaks of Ladakh

With fascinating and unique geographies, Ladakh in North India is home to numerous beautiful high peaks of the Himalayas. If you want a Ladakh trip then this area is an impeccable and most famous place to visit. In which there are high mountains up to a height of more than 7000 metres. It has mesmerising barren land and snow- limited mountains which are still less explored by people. The months from mid-September to mid-October are considered to be the best time to visit Ladakh.

From Zanskar to the Karakoram Himalayan range, there are many dangerous mounts in this region. Then, the utmost of the peaks bear special warrants from the home ministry of India or from the mountaineering confederation. These are relatively gruelling and located near disintegrated regions but still, there are numerous which can be gauged fluently. This can be one’s first attempt at the tour where one can see peaks above 6000m with challenges but special bones less.

There are some top and notorious peaks from Ladakh

Mount Nun

The notorious majestic mountain massif of Mount Nun- Kun where the advanced one, Mount Nun (7135 m) is the most admired mountain but delicate to gauge. It’s located on frame(LOC) in the Indian home of Suru Valley in the Kargil quarter. Because of ramification and threat, this peak is climbed by many people.

The alternate loftiest of the mountain massif Mount Nun- Kun, Mount Kun has an elevation of 7087 m. This climbing passage is located in Suru Valley, right coming to Mount Nun. These mountains may look nearer visually but have fully different routes to journey including different base camps. This journey is relatively gruelling but do- suitable. People prefer doing this passage post-monsoon for better and clearer rainfall.

In this group of Nun- Kun Mountain Massif, the third-loftiest peak is Mount Pinnacle with an elevation of 6930 metres. The route and oddities are the same as for Mount Kun. It’s better to essay this passage in early summers than latterly as the snow is less harsh to walk.

Mount Kang Yatze I & II

Located in Hemis National Park in Markha Valley, the binary peak of Mount Kang Yatze I (6496 m) & Mount Kang Yatze II (6270 m) is a witching journey of two peaks. Generally, pedestrians choose to climb Kang Yatze II further than Kang Yatze I as the advanced bones in the east are comparatively delicate to gauge because of edgy traverses.

Mount Mentok Kangri 1st, 2nd and 3rd

This beautiful massif of three summits of Mount Mentok Kangri (6250 m, 6150 m & 6210 m) overlooks mesmerising Tso Moriri in the remote area of Rupsu vale. The routes then are relatively tough but with standard specialised knowledge of fixing ropes and balancing on snow pitches.

With a magnificent view of Zanskar and the Indus valley, Mount Stok Kangri (6153 m) is one of the most seductive journeys for adventure suckers. It is located in Hemis National Park with a trailhead in Stoke, a remote village.

NOTE- Mount Stok Kangri peak has been temporarily closed for excursion and climbing since 2020 by the concerned government authorities.

Markha Valley is home to this beautiful binary peak, Mount Dzo Jongo (6218 m) which is relatively near to Kang Yatse peaks. This climbing passage is relatively lower specialised than the near bones. But it is difficult because the path is difficult.

Chamser Kangri & Lungser Kangri

The panoramic view of Tso Moriri Lake from this binary peak, Chamser Kangri (6620 m) & Lungser Kangri (6660 m) is a perfect visual treat to adventure suckers. It’s frequently preferred by pedestrians in the months of June, July and August. Both the summits partake the same base camps

Matho Kangri

One of the relatively new popular peaks, Matho Kangri is located in Zanskar Valley and named after its nearby village Matho. It has an elevation of approx 6000 m which is relatively gruelling to gauge but the graphic view will surely heal all. The journey starts from the notorious Hemis Monastery region which is generally considered to start in the months of July, August, and September.

Ladakh has a no way – ending list of charming peaks but as mentioned only some are scalable and have smaller formalities from the authorities. Below are some notorious peaks which lie in the fascinating region of Siachen. These peaks are known to be the loftiest in the region but need special warrants from the government of India:–

  • Apsarasas II (7200m)
  • Salto Kangri (7705m)
  • Sia Kangri (7093m)
  • Rimo Kangri (7385m)
  • Mamostong Kangri (7516m)
  • Plateau Peak (7287m)
  • White Needle Peak (6420m)
